Participants, Sampling, and Sites: The research study was specifically focused on the population of RECEs within the province of Ontario. A document list provided from the Region of Peel titled Subsidized Child Care Programs was the source of recruitment.
These participants answered the research question and the overall study was about their views on their career and future changes within the field of ECE. The type of sample that was used in this study was the non-probability, snowball sampling.
The appropriate size of the sample group was approximately 30 participants Di Francesco and Lennie, slide 10, This was suggested to be a reasonable size for a typical quantitative, correlational study.
The study site took place on a website where participants was able to access the online questionnaire.
Using an online questionnaire tool was more efficient in regards to this research study as it had many advantages. One advantage was that the online questionnaire reached a vast number of participants instantly.
For instance, the researcher in this study was able to send an e-mail to the participants in a short period of time. The participants had the opportunity to complete the online questionnaire anonymously as this research study was a sensitive topic about occupational stress in their personal and professional lives.
Recruitment, Permission and Consent: On the Region of Peel website, there was a document titled Subsidized Child Care Programs which contained information on all non-profit and for profit childcare centres this specific area of Ontario.
The researcher e-mailed all of the directors of the childcare centres and asked them to forward the online questionnaire to their respective RECEs. The timeline for recruitment began in January It was estimated that it would take three weeks.
The recruitment process included sending e-mails out to the directors and RECEs to inform them of the research study. The permission was needed from RECEs to participate in the present study.
In the e-mail, there was an attached Information Letter. The researcher intended to use an online questionnaire survey where participants were able to access the online survey quite easily. The introduction first page of the website of the questionnaire survey included the Information Letter.
This will inform participants the purpose of this research. At the end of the introduction, there was an option where the participant must answer the question: Do you agree to participate in the study?As it is indicated in the title, this chapter includes the research methodology of the dissertation.
